What makes a Real Princess?

Despite living on the outskirts of Xerasia near the Drift, a place affected by a long past war, 19-year-old Dara Clay has known the answer to this question since childhood. Instead of using that information to become a warrior princess, she’s decided to live the life of a helper. Focusing on helping her family rebuild the Drift and studying for an upcoming exam. However, an unexpected meeting with a gardening prince, a mysterious letter to her mother, and a stranger at the door, is enough to thrust Dara’s life towards the royally unexpected.

Especially when rumors spread that Prince James is using his mother’s school as a way to find a wife, a position Dara has no interest in filling. However, Dara is shocked to be personally selected by the Queen. Heeding her parents’ advice, Dara temporarily adjusts her plans and heads to the castle.

She soon learns that the King and Queen have been called away for urgent business, leaving their two sons to care for the academy. Trouble sparks during the King and Queen’s absence surrounding Dara’s growing relationship with the younger prince and her unexpected favor with the Queen. With the help of her friends Dara meanders through a semester of excitement and danger as she learns more about the royals, their country, and her past, than she ever imagined.

In the end, will she return to the comfortable life she once lived, or will everything be changed forever?
